How I Started Out Couponing.

When I first decided I wanted to learn to coupon, I contacted the girls over at Fabulessly Frugal and arranged to take a couponing class.  They offer their coupon classes in person here locally (Idaho) and they also offer an instructional DVD for those who can’t attend classes, which to my knowledge mirrors the classes they teach.  I decided I wanted to go sit through their class.  The first one that I could attend was about four weeks later.  Because I had to book it a month in advance, I went searching on the internet for other places that provided information on couponing.  What I found out is…
There are a PLETHORA of sites on the internet that have everything an aspiring couponista needs to be successful.

I ran into The Krazy Coupon Lady and her step by step instructions for beginning couponers.  This site offered free instructions, to be followed over ten days, in return giving you all the information you needed to start couponing.  Her ten day plan was so easy, I had it read in just a couple hours’ time.  KKL also offers printable binder dividers for easy organization of your growing coupon folder.    I printed out their dividers and table of contents and soon was on may way to planning my first coupon trip.
I feel like I had definitely gotten my feet wet by the time I actually attended the Fab Frugals’ coupon class.  If you are nervous about couponing, and need a little beginner “hand holding”  (which isn’t a bad thing ;) ) the ladies at Fab Frugal are very professional and very courteous and will answer most of your questions, so I definitely recommend attending their coupon class!

Be very careful!  There are some places that charge outlandish fees to learn how to coupon.  My friend Jenny once said, you should never have to pay to learn to coupon.    Both of the sites listed above offer free instruction on their websites, and both of them have very informative literature that you can buy (very inexpensively) that will explain to you everything you need to know.  Fabulessly Frugal can help you in person (if classes are available) and they are very inexpensive.

There’s no reason to go bankrupt before you start to save money ;)
